I truly appreciate readers who take the time to write, and I try to read everything sent to the site's e-mail box. However, I need to be able to find genuine readers' comments among a sea of mass-marketing material sent to the inbox. Therefore, the contact e-mail address will change periodically.
In general, the longer an e-mail address has been published on the world wide web, the more spammers find it and overwhelm the inbox with junk mail. This is why I use a gmail account instead of something more permanent -- past experience tells me that I need to change the e-mail address periodically in order to throw off the big spamming "companies." Please check back for the current e-mail address before sending new e-mails, to ensure that your good efforts are sent to the site's latest address.
Reader comments and questions are important to me. I try to read all e-mail that isn't spam, and will respond to some of the questions. However, due to the high volume of e-mail sent to addresses published on the world wide web, I can't respond to everything received.
Name confusion
Pam Rotella is NOT on Facebook! Pam Rotella is NOT on other social networking sites! I consider social networking sites to be stalkers' tools, and I am concerned for teenagers, children, and even adults who post photos and information about their friends and personal whereabouts online. If you see someone listed as "Pam Rotella" on these sites, it is another person with the same name, but NOT the person who runs this site. Computer techies have no need for social networking sites, as we can handle the minimal amount of code needed to create our own sites, without corporations telling us what we can and cannot say and do online.
Old e-mail problems
SPECIAL NOTE November 2011: Due to hosting company changes, the old comments@pamrotella.com e-mail address is down. Even so, that particular e-mail address was spammed so badly from being on the web for almost 10 years that it was no longer possible to separate the genuine e-mails from the hundreds of e-mails offering male enhancement drugs and banking scams. The new e-mail address may change again periodically for the same reason. Check this page for the latest e -mail address before sending e-mail.
Spamming notice
Sometimes e-mail addresses are faked by spammers. The old e-mail addresses comments@pamrotella.com and pam@veggiecooking.com had always been forwarded-only e-mail accounts, which means you would have never received legitimate mail from either one of those addresses. Any response from this site would have ALWAYS come from a different e-mail address. Therefore I'd advised people to block those addresses if they'd received spam from either.
With the new gmail addresses, you will probably receive your reply from the same gmail address. However, my new e-mail addresses will never be used for spam; I don't have time to deal with the e-mail I already receive, much less spam anyone. And so if you receive spam from one of those addresses, please block it, and then drop me an e-mail and let me know if you'd like a response sent from a non-published address.
