Cave of the Mounds, Blue Mounds, Wisconsin
[Photo taken 14 August 2001] This is one of the final formations on the tour. The cave's purple formations are caused by manganese. Every cave has its own special characteristics, and Cave of the Mounds has some purple and black colors due to manganese leached from the soil above.
