[Photo taken 14 March 2001] One treat in October that I didn't see in March was a flock of wild turkeys. I'd arrived early in October, and as I entered the trail, dozens of wild turkeys were foraging on the ground near the stream. Within seconds, a group of noisey school children came up behind me and scared them off. That taught me a good time to look for turkeys there -- autumn, as soon as the trail opens in the morning.
